Story
Thomas and Niall began this journey with one goal: to raise funds for a specialised powerchair that would allow Thomas to play football at his local powerchair football club.
Thanks to the incredible generosity and support from so many people, that goal has now been achieved. Thomas has his chair and is back playing the sport he loves.
Thomas lives with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a progressive, life-limiting condition that causes muscle degeneration. As a result, he is no longer able to use his legs or independently propel a manual wheelchair. Despite this, his passion for football has never changed.
With several events already planned, Thomas and Niall are continuing their fundraising efforts, now in support of three incredible charities: Treloar’s, Action Duchenne, and Activity Alliance. These organisations provide vital support, opportunities, and advocacy for individuals living with disabilities and life-limiting conditions.
Together, they have already completed the Vitality 10,000 and the London Landmarks Half Marathon. Their next challenge is the Southampton Marathon on 3rd May, where Niall will once again push Thomas in a manual wheelchair.
For many of us, access to sport is essential for our mental, social, and physical wellbeing. The same is true for Thomas and for many others supported by these charities. By continuing this journey, they hope to help more people experience the confidence, friendships, and sense of inclusion that sport can bring.
With your continued support, through donations or simply by sharing their story, you can help make a meaningful difference.
