Story
Toby’s Chair is a community project to offer support to those in need of raising their self-esteem. Working with agencies on a referral basis ‘Style by Jess’ offers free haircuts/treatments to clients who are undergoing a difficult period in their lives and would benefit from a little time spent on themselves which they otherwise may not be able to afford.
This project is entirely funded by donations and all the time is given voluntarily.
This project has been founded in memory of:
Toby James Watson
4th March 1968 – 12th October 2002
“My older brother took pride in his appearance and his great loves were fashion and music, he would often remark on it being a good day because his hair was looking ‘superb!’. He began to suffer from mental illness in his teenage years and throughout his twenties until he finally lost the battle to live age 34 and took his own life outside Hartford station. Having suffered throughout my own life from periods of mental un wellness, I know how difficult ‘self-care’ can be, and finally feel I am in a position to offer a fitting tribute to my brother who knew the importance of ‘good hair days’.”
