Story
We're climbing the 3 National Peaks in 24 hours to help raise funds to support Toby for his transition to school.
4 year old Tobes has Dravet Syndrome, a rare and severely disabling form of epilepsy that affects about 1 in 40,000 births. It's a difficult to treat aggressive type of epilepsy. We're raising funds to help Toby attend his local school and join his older sisters with the resources he requires.
As most of us know school funding is limited. So we're fundraising towards providing a new external building at our small village school. This facility will help him recover from seizures, sleep, cool down in the heat and have time out. The building will also be used as a library for the school and will be a great benefit to the school. Any additional funds will be used for resources to help keep Toby safe and assist his progress in learning and development at school.
Toby was diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome at 18 months following endless ambulance trips and 2 major seizures that lasted over 1 hour resulting in ICU care. He continues to have seizures on a weekly basis but can be managed with rescue medication and by keeping triggers to a minimum, making sure he gets plenty of quiet time, support & his temperature is monitored at all times. Despite the daily cocktail of medication & eveything he has deal with, he is the happiest and most loving little boy.
