Story

I can now reveal why i am doing this run.

A member of my staff suffered the worst possible start to the year.

Please read below for her story.

Riley David Bourne was a normal four year old boy who lived his life to the full. He was always happy and was always smiling, so his nickname was Smiley Riley. He loved his family and friends, loved going to school and was a very proud big brother.

On Sunday 12th February he woke up with chicken pox. Monday morning his mum phoned the doctors and said what was the best thing to do, which they said use calamine lotion and paracetamol, which she did. With the chicken pox came tiredness, fever, nausea, lost appetite, Riley was showing all the symptoms. Thursday night Riley started to bleed from his mouth which his mum knew wasn't right so she called an ambulance which took him to Pembury Hospital where they did lots of tests. Friday morning he was rushed to St Georges Hospital London where it was confirmed he had Leukemia as well as chicken pox. He was put in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) ward for children who tried all they could to make him better.

Monday 20th February he lost the fight and passed away.

All the time Riley was in hospital and a few days after his passing, we stayed at Ronald Mcdonald House Tooting, who helped a great deal so we were close to the hospital and for that us as a family are forever grateful.

Please give generously, any amount is gratefully recieved for this worthy cause.
