Story
We are going to complete the Yorkshire 3 peaks challenge within 12 hours, to raise money and awareness for the group Working Age Dementia. This group offers vital support for people in the local area living with early onset dementia and the people closest to them.
My mother in law is living with Alzheimer's and was diagnosed with this disease at the age of 55, 4 years in and she has already become solely dependant on others with all everyday activities. She was such a loving, caring, hardworking, fun, happy lady and now faces many challenges every single day.
This group has provided a safe and fun space for her to socialise with other people with her condition. More than that, it has given a chance for my Wife and my Father in law to meet other carers and get advice and support, which helps everyone involved. They have become a close knit community and welcome new members to join them.
The money raised will help the group organise days such as a dementia friendly boat trip on the river Trent, or other private events in a safe space that all the family can be involved with and make precious memories.
