Weʼve raised £942 to support the RNLI! John and the 1954 Vincent Rapide's journey from John o' Groats to Land's End!

Funded on Saturday, 27th July 2019

Don't have time to donate right now?

    Story

How to raise some funds for Royal National Lifeboat Institute (RNLI), wondered John, while tinkering away in his workshop one cold Winter day of 2018.

Looking up from his beloved 1954 Vincent Rapide, his eyes lit up. 'Riding the Vincent from John o 'Groats to Land's End, hitting the 'four corners' of the United Kingdom', he decided!

All donations go to the RNLI , who protect our shores (all expenses covered by John).

He plans to set off on 27th June from Romney Marsh, Kent, riding up to John o' Groats (far North Scotland) and down to Land's End (far South Cornwall), incorperating the four furthest points of the United Kingdom. He will cover approcimately 2,500 miles in just 12 days.

Support John in his quest to help the RNLI this summer! Please share far and wide!

Thank you everyone who has been following this dream come true. To Doris' (Snargate) the Free Masons of Ryans lodge, Friskin The Whiskers Roots Music Festival, Camera Beer and everyone who has donated. To my daughter Martha for sorting the social media, my fiancé Karen for all her support and the various classic motorcycle press for their coverage. I thought i'd just go for a ride on my Vincent then Martha suggested i raise some money for a charity at the same time. Our target was £1,000 - we've more than doubled that, jolly good show i say.

Day 13. With Paul on his Norton Commando heading east. Many Hells Angels on the road, must of been 100 of them at one filling station. A30 shut near Bodmin as 2 or 3 had a pile up needing an air ambulance. Used some of the old A30: fab and quite empty. Back in Crediton loaded up bike and dropped in near Honiton to meet old mate Memphis Gee on his BSA DB34 Goldstar, with Chris on his Commando. Fast drive home: done it!

Day12. Collected Vinnie from Will's garage and spent most of the morning adjusting clutch actuating arm and modifying cable. Some improvement but needs sorting properly at my workshop. Engine running beautifully. Set off for The Lizard: most westerly point, quite charming. Accompanied by Paul we stopped for coffee & cake in Port Levan. Onward to over commercialised Lands End. Me and a Vincent 1000 cc V-twin have conquered the End To End ride incorporating the 4 furthest points of mainland UK in 12 days. Heading East tomorrow for final ride.
