Story
Firstly, thank you for visiting our just giving page.
I am trying to raise money for some new resources and equipment for William Morris College, we are a specialist college promoting work-related learning and independence for young people with learning difficulties, assisting in their transition into adulthood. We use a combination of workshops and skills training, our target is moving our students onwards, preparing them for employment or supportive living as adults.
I am trying to raise £200 which will go to buying new resources and equipment so that myself, our students and other people with learning disabilities from the community can create a social enterprise. Having the opportunity to learn new skills in a social enterprise such as; team work, communication, finance, turn taking, confidence and communication is vital for the young people. As the outside world is changing it is becoming increasingly difficult for young people with learning disabilities to find any kind of employment or work based learning whether this is paid or voluntary. A social enterprise will allow the young people to learn the skills needed for work, to be a part of something and to contribute to the wider community.
With any money received I would like to purchase resources needed for the first enterprise which will be craft based; Jewellery making, card making, photography, printing. Simple activities which can be tailored to the specific needs of the young people and will give them a chance to be involved within the whole process of a business.
Thank you for taking the time to read the page and thank you for any money donated, it will be hugely beneficial to our young people and their future. Below I have included some photos of our college/residential area.
