Story

My son Heath is currently waiting on an official diagnosis for ASD (autism spectrum disorder). He has many difficulties to deal with, speech, language and communication in general is incredibly challenging for him. We have had to learn so much as parents and people in order to raise him in a way that's suitable for him and not the rest of us. One of the most important aspects of being a parent is to protect and keep our children safe, this is very hard for us to achieve with Heath when it comes to bed time, he has a complete lack of danger awareness which is a constant worry for us on an evening. Heath currently sleeps on a bottom bunk of a bunk bed with his brother, which we have to secure him into every night with a makeshift safety space using tape, shoelaces and cardboard... Yes this is as awful as it sounds. We desperately require a comfortable safe space environment for Heath to sleep in which will give him the sleep he deserves and us the peace of mind on a night that he is safe. So far this year through various charitable events and donations from some terrific friends and family we have raised just over £3000 of the £4700 we need for the bed.

Myself and my business partner Amanda Randall would greatly appreciate it if you could sponsor us for a race we have devised to help raise funds for Heaths bed. On the 23rd of September Amanda is going to swim the 10.5 mile length of Lake Windermere (the largest natural lake in England) while I attempt to finish before her by running the 30-32 mile distance around the lake.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, if you can sponsor myself or Amanda we as a family really appreciate the help you can provide. X
