    Whitby Wildlife Sanctuary

Hopes and plans for the future

As some of you may already know, we have been granted planning permission for a dedicated wildlife hospital. This is very exciting news for us. We already admit over 2100 rescues every year, the charity is ever expanding and the number of casualties ever increasing. We expect this year to be another record for rescues.
Presently, the whole rescue is run from Broomfields farm - our home! Luckily we do have the land for aviaries and enclosures but it is getting increasingly difficult to accommodate rescues from home. They need their own building. The building costs, electricity, plumbing, the works is estimated to cost around £120,000 (yup - you heard me right: 120k!!)
At the moment we are managing to raise over £20,000 a year - this only covers the cost of everything else - food, veterinary costs, ambulance expenses, equipment, list goes on…

And that’s where you come in.
We have 7000 supporters on our FB page, members who follow our work. If every member donated £20 we would raise that money.
If half of our supporters committed to raising £40 each, we would raise that money.
If only a seventh of our supporters committed to raising £120 each through fundraising activities, we would raise that money. That would have to be a thousand of you. Ideas could be to do a sponsored event such as a run, cycle or walk. Cake sales, evening events, coffee mornings, jumble sales, car boots, auctions, competitions, raffles & tombolas, car wash, wildlife days or uniform free days at our local schools, Green day, art and crafts, quizzes, stalls at local events … we can help you organise these and give you support.

We admit all wildlife; all manner of birds including seabirds and birds of prey, hedgehogs, foxes and deer. List goes on!

We aim to educate the public in conservation and the environment and provide a rescue and rehabilitation service for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife.
