Why your donation matters

William’s Story

William was a Depaul service user for two years. After a bad break-up he became homeless and suicidal, turning to drugs to help him forget. But, with a safe place to stay and the encouragement and 24 hour a day support of Depaul's staff, William started to take control of his life and became the first Peer Support volunteer in Depaul Ireland's Befriending Programme. He now uses his own experience to show people who are homeless that change is possible. In 2011, William won the Ireland Involved Award for the social work sector for his great volunteer work with Depaul Ireland.
