Case study: donations in action
Frances Hyde and her husband Darrell are parents to Luke who was born at the hospital on January 11 last year.
Mrs Hyde, of Trevithick Drive, Dartford, said: “My son was born at 3.4lbs. He wasn’t premature. It was a growth problem which had not been detected. He had to stay in there for three weeks.
“I was beside myself. I was up there day and night. That was my life for three weeks.
“All I kept thinking was ‘will he survive?’ “Now he’s fine. There’s nothing wrong with him. He’s 19 months old and runs around and does what he wants to do.”
The 31-year-old added: “The care he got as soon as he was born was fantastic and the care I got was brilliant. They are more like friends now.”
Mrs Hyde helped to raise more than £1,000 for the unit through a sponsored walk with nine other mums.
