Why your donation matters

HEART UK is the only charity in the UK dedicated to supporting people with high cholesterol and their families. We are focused on preventing unnecessary and early deaths caused by high cholesterol.

Having high cholesterol can be worrying, confusing and even frightening, not only for the person diagnosed, but for their loved ones too. HEART UK supports those with high cholesterol, providing a friendly and supportive ear for those concerned about their health and ensuring they get the best care and support they need to ensure their long-term well-being.

Please donate now and help us keep young hearts running.

Case study: donations in action

Many people believe that high cholesterol only affects those of a ‘certain age’, sadly however, they are mistaken, and high cholesterol can affect children too.

11 year old Rianna Wingett, was a keen runner, and excelled at cross-country. Tragically, on the day before her 12th birthday, during a normal PE lesson, Rianna suffered a fatal heart attack and died on the sports field at the end of a race. Rianna was born with very high cholesterol which was never identified and therefore not treated.

Rianna’s parents want to stop such a tragedy happening to another family and so are devout members of HEART UK, supporting our campaign to mandate cascade testing in families where the parents have high cholesterol, and educate healthcare professionals about the prevalence of cholesterol in the young.

Don't let such a tragedy happen to another family. Support HEART UK and help us keep young hearts running. Thank you.
