Why your donation matters
Sight is the sense we all fear losing the most. Do you realise that by the time you are 60 you will have a one in nine change of having significant sight loss -rising to one in five by age 75? You may escape but you will know family and friends who will not be so lucky. That is why for over 90 years, KAB has helped thousands of blind and partially sighted people across Kent, Medway, Bromley and Bexley to lead independent, rewarding and safe lives.
KAB provides a host of vital rehabilitation services to children and adults - from mobility training, helping re-learn daily living skills like cooking, IT tuition, specialist equipment provision, free Talking Newspapers and a network of social and activity clubs.
Donate now -your support will help KAB offer a lifetime of support.
Case study: donations in action
When Jennifer got a laptop computer, help from family and mainstream IT classes did not enable her to learn how to use it and she got so despondent that she nearly threw her laptop away.
"I had tried other IT classes but was the only visually impaired person in the class and I didn’t learn at all. I really tried but I didn’t respond to the lessons so got angry and thought I was stupid. I was put in touch with KAB's Assistive Technology Project and Scott came for lessons and made it so much easier to learn. I quickly went from strength to strength. Now I love spending time on my computer and can be on it for hours. It has opened up lots of doors to new interests – I had no idea you could do so much on the Internet. I now email with my family and friends and use magnification software so I can read private letters for the first time.
Now the more I learn, the more I want to do. If it wasn’t for KAB helping me to learn I would have missed out on so much fun and enjoyment.
