My name is Joseph Baird and I'm 6 years old and recently took up karting.

My Mum and Dad have bought me my own kart so I can enter the 2015 Motor Sports Association (MSA) Bambino Karting Championship.  We've also bought a trailer and a lot of other things we'll need to compete!

Bambino karting is for 6-8 year old children and the competition takes place over 7 weekends between April and October - as far north as Motherwell in Scotland and as far south as Rochester, Kent.  As we tour the country, we hope to spread the word and raise money for our charity Birmingham Children's Hospital.

I was treated by Birmingham Children's Hospital for a kidney problem and without their expertise I may not be able to go karting!  In 2014 I raised £750 and in 2015 I hope to raise £2000 or more.

Instead of the usual stickers and graphics on my kart, I've asked for a custom look to advertise Birmingham Children's Hospital.  There is space on my kart and trailer for adverts - if you are interested please contact me and in return for a  donation to the charity, we'll make sure it happens.

I have asked for a third of the money raised to Paediatric Surgery & Urology who fixed my kidney!  Another third will go to help kids with cardiac problems and the final third will go to the building and equipping of playrooms in the hospital.  It is daunting for children to go to hospital and I loved playing with toys at Birmingham Children's Hospital whilst waiting for my treatment.

I need to make it clear that all donations will be going to Birmingham Children's Hospital via JustGiving.  My Mum & Dad are paying for my kart and all expenses - none of that will be taken from your donations.
