Why your donation matters

Ryde is your independent lifeboat station and the crew that you see go out in all weathers need your support to help raise the funds to cover the cost of running the service! From personal protective equipment to medical supplies and fuel, admin costs to insurance; even capital costs... it's up to the crew of the lifeboat station to find the money to keep us running!

Please support a lifeboat station that has attended over 100 callouts in 2011!

Case study: donations in action

In 2011 the IW Council decided to withdraw the lifeguard service on Ryde Beaches. Ryde Inshore Rescue decided that no cover on the beach would be dangerous and also lead to the volunteers being called out from work everyday so with financial support from Ryde Town Council and Hovertravel set up a beach safety scheme. The unit was manned 7 days a week throughout the summer from 11am - 6pm by a mixture of paid staff and volunteers. Whilst the funding covered the beach safety scheme we became operationally busier as well and ended up making a loss through the amount of fuel that was used and also getting through far more medical supplies than we accounted for. We assisted over 500 people throughout the summer and that is how your money helps!
