Case study: donations in action
Dale has a passion for cooking and even prepares Sunday lunch for his mum, brothers, sisters and friends. A catering student at Pendleton College he has aspirations to become a top chef, even a celebrity chef perhaps!.
Dale received a grant from the Trust so that he could join fellow catering students on a trip to Edinburgh where among other activities, they were given a tour of the kitchens of one of the UK’s leading hotels the 5 Star Balmoral. Dale had never been outside Salford before this trip. Following this he secured a 12-week placement at The Lowry Theatre, working in the kitchens, cooking and preparing food.
Before these opportunities Dale was on a very different path, he had been involved in crime including drug dealing but decided he wanted something better he didn't want to follow that path.
Having completed his Level 2 NVQ Dale is now employed at the Bella Italia studying an NVQ Level 3. His ambition is to open a restaurant on the Continent.
