Why your donation matters

Your donations matter because they are used to help communities and families around the world overcome poverty, illness and disaster. In donating to us you become a part of this great work. What's more, the money you send out covers more than just what the recipient receives. It includes everything involved in getting the gift into the hands of those who need it most. We call this the gift journey.

We want to make sure your money really impacts the lives of people in need. We promise that 90p of every £1 you give will go overseas – ensuring that your donations impact those who need them most.

Case study: donations in action

For Joanna, every day had been a desperate fight for survival. Her mum, who was HIV positive, became too ill to provide for Joanna and her father ran away because he was unable to cope. At 11 years old she was faced with few options.

Joanna's mum soon died. Debora Randall, Head of Programmes for Orphans & Vulnerable Children, said: “At that time, Joanna felt that she was alone in the world, she no longer had anyone who cared for her or to whom she belonged.”

Working with staff at Anita Home, the Samaritan’s Purse Child Reintegration programme began the work of tracing Joanna’s surviving relatives.

Following two years living in the children’s home Joanna was reunited with her family. A grandmother and a 15 year old sister! Joanna will soon go to live with her family and they will be supported by the local church and the Samaritan’s Purse Child Reintegration Programme as they adjust to their new lives together.
