As you will see through our fundraising pages LAM Action is a charity that means a lot to us at FS Accountants. In December 2010 soon after setting up the practice one of the directors Sarah Sharples was taken ill and had to have her kidney and a large tumour removed. Further investigation revealed cysts in her lungs also. She was diagnosed with the rare condition Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (also known as LAM)
LAM Action is the UK charity for patients and families with Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) and doctors caring for patients with LAM.
LAM is a rare disorder which affects women only, and is generally diagnosed in women of childbearing age. The condition mainly affects the lungs, where it causes excessive growth of smooth muscle tissue which progressively erodes lung function.
As you will see this is a scary diagnosis to receive at age 30. Please help us support this charity and support people with this rare disease.
