My mam was diagnosed with Breast Cancer for the second time in December 2012. She has undergone a mastectomy and is recovering well. Everyday we hear of more and more people being diagnosed with all different types of cancer. Everyone knows someone who has cancer, has beat cancer or has lost their battle with cancer. I felt a bit helpless when i found out about my mam and wanted to do something but didn't know what. It must have been playing on my mind because i woke up in the middle of the night with the idea of biking Land's End to John O'Groats to raise money. Of course my friends think i have gone mad and Margaret is the only one mad enough to join me ha ha. The charities that are doing battle with cancer do an amazing job and for us to raise some money in the fight against cancer is amazing. This is going to be a massive personal challenge - physically and mentally for both myself and Margaret but the aches and pains will all be worth it if we can raise lots of money for our 2 charities - Breast Cancer Care and Cancer Research UK
