Optician's sporting charity challenge 2019

PLEASE DONATE EQUALLY BETWEEN THE CHARITIES

For the summer of 2019 Optician will be taking part in a number of events and raising money for two great charities.

Our two recipients will be www.seeability.org and ww.blindveterans.org.uk who between then offer help for the visually impaired across a huge range of ages and abilities.

It's up to you to decide which cause you would like to pledge your money to but Optician is naturally supporting both as equally as posssible.

The sporting events for 2019 are the Alpe d'Huez Triathlon on July 26th and the Prudential RideLondon 100 shortly after on August 4th. The season ends with the Sussex Original Triathlon, a half Ironman distance race.

The Alpe d' Huez event is a return to the mountains for Optician. Nine years ago ( https://bit.ly/2XX0SI1) a team of Optician readers took part in the long course version of the race. It is the hardest sporting event I have ever been involved with. It's a beautiful setting and Alpe d'Huez just has a draw for cyclists so when the opportunity came to return I couldn't say no.

The second levent also marks a return fixture for me (Optician editor, Chris Bennett). I took part in the Prudential RideLondon in 2016 and it's a great way to see the capital and the opportinity to do so on closed roads is one not to be passed up. SeeAbility is still looking for riders if you fancy the challenge.

Please contribute to the Optician charity pot and help both of these very deserving charities continue their great work.

Remember: Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never share them with anyone or send you unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. They'll make sure Gift Aid (an additional 25%) is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer, too. That means more money goes to the charity, faster, with JustGiving.
