Last year, Graham Smith (Smiggy) organised a charity Coast to Coast cycle ride and led a merry band of nearly 30 riders on the way to raising £15000 for the Ashgate Hospice and Multiple Sclerosis.
This year, he is setting his sights higher, above sea level that is, by leading another merry band of riders along the West Highland Way in Scotland. 95 Miles of rough, incredibly hilly walking trail (that means unrideable hills!), all in the aid of good causes, with the addition this year of the North Derbyshire Branch of the RSPCA.
Graham, the two Matts, the two Marks, Martin, Richard, Paul, Andrew and Nigel, ably supported by Gerald and Trev the Photographer, will be pedalling like lunatics to complete the challenge over two and a half days during the first weekend in July 2011.
All participants are covering their own travel, accommodation and other costs to ensure that every penny that is donated goes to the charities. The grand total will be donated evenly to the three charities.
