In the Summer of 2016 I’m on a mission to trek Mont Blanc. I will be doing this trek to raise money for Mind and the YHA. As you may know Mind are on a mission to stop the stigma surrounding mental health, with 1 in 4 of us experiencing some form of mental heath issue every year why is it still so stigmatised to talk about depression and anxiety amongst other conditions? If you met me most people would think there’s a good looking, confident young lady who has everything going for them, however I myself have suffered with low self esteem, depression and anxiety. I feel passionate about helping others and I think the way forward is getting people back in touch with nature. I have found nothing more calming and euphoric than the experience of hiking up Helvellyn and sitting looking over Striding Edge, just thinking to oneself this is what life is about. I want to inspire others to get out there and make their own stories and experiences in our amazing and beautiful island. Likewise half the funds raised will be going towards the YHA’s Breaks for Kids fund which is set up to help disadvantaged young people access adventurous experiences.
In the lead up to the trek I will be training in all of the mountainous regions of our fair isle. I will be blogging about my experiences along the way. Sharing all the gory details of attempting to get fit and ready for an epic adventure in the Alps. I will be staying at YHA hostels in all the key areas such as Brecon Beacons, Snowdonia, Peak District, Lake District and Scotland, so come along meet me and join in the fun!
