Titus was born October 12, 2015 with many physical abnormalities, which became terminal with the diagnosis of liver disease in December. Over the course of his life, he was in 2 cities very far from home and 4 hospitals. The Sick Children's Trust played a big role in our lives while we cared for him so far from home.
We had had a lovely last 2 weeks with Titus in Carlisle. We enjoyed getting cuddles and smiles and spending time with our sweet boy. We got to spend Christmas with him, and he even came off his oxygen for a couple of days! Early Sunday morning (Jan 3), he began showing signs of another cold. By Sunday evening he was back on oxygen. Monday (Jan 4) he was transferred to Jigsaw, Cumbria's Children's Hospice in Carlisle. We knew by the way he'd deteriorated over that short period of time and because of weight loss that he could die soon.
On Tuesday morning January 5th, we received a phone call telling us that Titus was very poorly. Five minutes later, we received another phone call saying that we needed to come to hospice as soon as possible. When we arrived half an hour later we were told he'd died peacefully in a nurse's arms at 12:05 right after they rang us.
The chaplain at hospice was with Titus when he passed away. She read to him from Titus Chapter 3. She finished reading Titus 3:7 "so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life." Titus then took a couple more breaths and stopped breathing. He passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus.
