In August 2010, I undertook to partake in the British 24hr Endurance Karting Event solely by myself to raise money for ‘Help for Heroes’.
It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. At the end of the event it led me to tears because of not just completing the event and waving the Union Jack but also knowing the monies I managed to raise went to our Heroes.
On the 24th/25th August I’ve decided to do it again and yes, all by myself….! The Venue is www.teessidekarting.co.uk
This time I’ve decided to still support ‘Help for Heroes’, but also two other charities, ‘Bowel Cancer UK’ and ‘KartForce’.

This year ‘Bowel Cancer UK’ is 25 years old and nearly half a million have died from the disease. Bowel Cancer is the UK’s second biggest killer but it shouldn’t be. It is in fact very treatable, particularly when diagnosed early. The big problem is that awareness is too low!
Over 40,000 men & women are diagnosed with bowel cancer in the UK every year and with the Anniversary of the Charity they are launching ‘We Can Save Lives Together’ to increase awareness.
‘KartForce’ – www.kartforce.org
KartForce is a charity that was founded in 2010 by ex-Royal Engineer, Dave Player and offers injured troops the opportunity to enjoy Karting – whether as an occasional leisure activity with family and friends, a group event with other injured troops, or competition racing against teams of non-injured drivers. The Karting has contributed to the rehabilitation of injured British troops, as well as raising public awareness for all those that have been injured in the line of duty for their country.

H4H supports veterans and serving personnel who have been wounded or injured, or have become sick, as a result of serving their country. Additionally their families and dependents receive support from the Charity as they care for their loved one, and adapt to the new challenges that they face. Their primary focus is on those affected by recent and current conflicts due to the urgency and extent of their needs.
H4H is a tri-service military charity, providing support to full time, reservist Servicemen and women and veterans from the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force.
