Leigh & Dean Climb Kilimanjaro

Hello Everyone,

I would like to let you know that we have completed the challenge and we made it to the summit of Kilimanjaro after an arduous trek.

The cash raised and the stunning beauty of the view from the summit have more than made up for any hardship we have faced on our trip.

Our objective in doing this is to raise money for two fantastic charities, both of which are very close to our hearts:  MacMillan Cancer Support and When You Wish Upon a Star.

We thank all who have supported us so far and would really appreciate any further donations to help us close in on our original target of £20,000.

Many of you will be familiar with the work of MacMillan Cancer Support; Dean and I have had first hand experience of this marvellous charity, having seen them in action with close family and friends who have suffered from cancer and thankfully pulled through.  If you or your loved ones have been touched by cancer, you will know what a devastating effect it has on everyone concerned.  MacMillan offers help to patients, their carers and families, not only through guidance and support, but with financial assistance too, from grant funding and benefits, to actually funding nurses and other professional health care specialists.  They give practical help too, whether it’s organising lifts to hospital or providing cover for a carer to take some time off.  And of course they offer emotional support to all those whose lives are put on hold while they deal with cancer.

When You Wish Upon a Star is a charity for children aged from 2 to 16 years with terminal or life threatening illnesses.  The charity literally makes their wishes come true, to give them a once in a lifetime experience and transport them, if only briefly, from a life dominated by hospitals and medical treatments to fulfil their wildest dreams.  Wishes can be anything from meeting their favourite popstars to swimming with dolphins, meeting Mickey Mouse in Disneyland or Father Christmas in Lapland.  It is our hope that our donation will help to bring a ray of sunshine into a child’s life.

If you would like more information on the work each charity does, please click on the links below and you will get a good idea of the special work they do and how the money we raise can make a real difference.

We would really appreciate your support for these two wonderful charities and would be very grateful if you would pledge your support via the link on our website.  Unfortunately there is not a mechanism in place via the link to allow an equal split and we would love to support both charities in the same way, so you will have to make two separate pledges if you wish to support both.

Dean and I will be fully funding the trip and all our expenses, so every penny raised from your donations will go directly to MacMillan Cancer Support and When You Wish Upon a Star.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and for your support; we will find it a great incentive to achieve our goal.

If Chris Moyles, Cheryl Cole and co can do it, then so can we!  They took the low road, we’ll take the high road !

Kind Regards

Leigh Hall and Dean Wann
