The background:
On the 15th of September a team of highly trained and athletic Nexus employees (and Colin Thompson) will be attempting to complete the Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for Starlight Children’s Foundation (http://www.starlight.org.uk), the nominated charity of the Nexus Charity Committee.
Starlight brightens the lives of seriously and terminally ill children by granting their greatest wishes and also by providing fun, laughter and some much needed relief for children in hospital wards and hospices across the United Kingdom. All of Starlight’s activities are aimed at distracting children from the pain, fear and isolation they can often feel as a result of their illnesses.
The challenge:
To those of you unfamiliar with the challenge, the Three Peaks Challenge requires participants to climb three mountains within 24 hours (including the UK's highest peak)! It is by no means an easy feat and is set to challenge our staff physically, mentally and emotionally as we take on the following peaks:
• Ben Nevis, Scotland (1344m)
• Scafell Pike, England (978m)
• Snowdon, Wales (1085m)
To make matters worse, the 24 hour period involves the travel between each mountain so there won't be any dawdling up the mountains!
Why donate?
Nexus Underwriting have already raised funds for Starlight through a variety of events in 2016 but we wanted to go the extra mile (literally) to raise even more funds for what we think is an incredibly worthy cause.
