I'm running the race in order to raise much needed funds for two great organisations: Youth SVP and GAFSIP. You can choose to donate money to either or both of the charities, any help you can give to the important work they do would be much appreciated!
Youth SVP - the youth programme of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society. Youth SVP supports young people in schools and parishes across England & Wales, helping them to work with people in need in their local community. The young people grow as active citizens, and local vulnerable people (the homeless, the elderly, people with disabilities, etc) benefit from the projects they run. I worked with this programme between 2009 and early 2011, it really is fantastic! www.youthsvp.org.uk
GAFSIP - Gambia and Avon Fire Services in Partnership. GAFSIP coordinates the provision of redundant fire & rescue vehicles, ambulances, health and educational equipment to The Gambia. All donated items are at the end of their life in the UK. Training is also provided to the Gambian Fire Service. GAFSIP is an established and trusted charity that has been working in The Gambia for the last 20 years. www.gafsip.org/
