Saarah was our beautiful and beloved four year old daughter. She passed away suddenly and completely unexpectedly in her sleep on the 11th of March.
She was truly a miracle: born eleven weeks early, weighing 3lb 3oz, she overcame meningitis twice before finally coming home after three months.
Then aged one she suddenly became ill with pneumonia and a serious secondary infection and she needed to go back on a ventilator. Remarkably she bounced back and for the next three years she enjoyed good health.
Unfortunately the meningitis left its mark, including hearing loss in one ear, nystagmus (wobbly eyes), very low muscle tone and developmental delay. However, through her courage and determination, she was overcoming all of these challenges and had blossomed into a fun loving, outgoing and mischievous little girl.
During the last year she took her first independent steps and was making exceptional progress across the board. Looking at her pictures today it is difficult to imagine that she had such a difficult start in life and had overcome so much.
She brought us so much love and joy and was a source of inspiration to all who knew her. Please help us to help other children like Saarah.
