Who are we?
The Rambling Researchers are Kirsty Greenow (Team Captain), Alan Clarke, Giusy Tornillo, Meera Raja, Sophie Wang, Lili Ordonez, Vicky Durban and Dewi Durban. We are affiliates of Cardiff University, and are active cancer researchers.
What are we doing?
On 29th June 2013, we will be taking part in the Ten Peaks Challenge -- a gruelling 12-hour hike, which will summit 10 of the highest peaks in the Lake District over a distance of 16 miles with a total climb of 8000 feet. Yikes!
Will it be easy?
No! Although some of the team members have hill-walking experience, most are complete novices who readily admit that they walk as little as posssible. We started training in February 2013 for the challenge. To get us through the challenge, we'll need the help, support and generous donations of our friends, families, colleagues and supporters.
Who are we raising money for?
This challenge is in aid of Tenovus, the Welsh cancer charity.
Why Tenovus?
Tenovus very generously funds some of our research into Bowel, Breast and Prostate cancers.
We see first-hand the importance of this funding, which allows us to discover and understand how cancers begin, grow and become more aggressive. This ultimately lets us understand how cancers can be more effectively treated, to improve the lives of cancer patients.
