I've taken the oppertunity to use the Trans Pennine Trail cycle ride (215miles in 5 days between Southport and Hornsea) that I'm planning on doing in less than two weeks time as an opportunity to raise money for charities that Elaine would have supported.I found on Just Giving you can only give to one charity at a time so it recommended setting a team page up. I've listed a few charities but contact me if you want me to add any others.
I've had a bit of feedback requesting details of each of the charities so here goes:
Music for Youth is an educational charity that provides free access to educational and performance opportunities for all kinds of groups of young musicians and audiences through a nationwide series of festivals and concerts.
The Air Ambulence attends over 1000 missions a year each mission costing around £1400. They provide the best possible pre-hospital care & rapid transport to specialist hospitals, to those suffering serious injury and illness. DLRAA receive no National Lottery or Government funding, relying solely on donations.
Techniquest is a Science Centre and educational charity. Its mission is to engage people with Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) and to motivate them to learn more.
Cancer Research UK ensures more people beat cancer.Elaine was regulary running the race for life.
Headway Leicester is a charity that I've come across since the acident. It provides support services for adults with acquired brain injuries, their families & carers. They help people come to terms with the devastating effects of brain injury; at their day centre in Leicester & their outreach services across the county & Rutland.
Remember: Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. They'll make sure Gift Aid (an additional 28%) is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer, too.
