Case study: donations in action

Ruth is nearly 15 and has been using Watford Mencap Children’s Centre since she was 3. She has learning disabilities and uses a wheelchair. She goes to the after-school club on Friday afternoons and the Achieving Potential Together Club on Saturdays. For Ruth this means having fun with her peers and doing things she is unable to at home - the ball pool is a real favourite.

The APT Club also means that she can, for example, go to Pizza Hut, bowling or to the Cinema with her friends - just like any other teenager.

In turn this gives Ruth’s parents ‘guilt free space’ to spend prime time with their other two children, Hannah and Silas.
