Team OppO
Campaign by The OppO Foundation (RCN 1163563)
The OppO Foundation are raising money to support five wounded ex military personnel looking to compete in the 2020 Paralympic games in Tokyo. Our target with your help is £100k or more.

Story

The Oppo foundation will have its own registered ‘virtual’  8.0 mile event this year.  The 8.0 represents the milestone for runners and it marks the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain. OppO's motivation to arrange the event is to look at new ways of fundraising to support wounded veterans on their Invictus and Paralympic journeys in these unusual times.

The OppO Foundation want to raise money for a specialised Wheelchair for Kelly Leonard and present the chair to Kelly on 9th  September at a big event at RAF Cosford.

On the 5th September, 18 Britvic IT employees, 4 employees from International (Vicki Scotchett, Gemma Hartley, Roy Pennock and Gina Marshall) & Marie-Pierre Burgess from the Consumer Engagement team will run/walk/jog/cycle the 8miles! Some will be doing it in their home town and some will be meeting up to do it together.

We thank you so much for all of your support! #GoTeamBritvic

A bit about OppO:

The OppO Foundation are raising money to support Ex military personnel in their quest for gold by providing specialist training and physiotherapy. Competing in Tokyo 2021 is just one of the many goals. They want to inspire others to follow their lead and use sport to regain physical health, mental strength and a purpose in life. A great many military personnel have returned home with a disability suffered in the course of serving their country. With a little support they can do it. #TeamOppO

A bit about Kelly Leonard:

As a child, competitive sports were a major part of Kelly’s life. But since her accident, the former RAF Physical Training Instructor let her injury define her. She lost focus on sport and her physical and mental recovery suffered. It left Kelly with complete loss of confidence and self- belief. Yet through the Invictus Games, she is surrounded by people who do not judge but understand, talk and offer support.

Kelly said:

They have empowered me to achieve the best I can be. The UK Trials was a turning point in my life, I am back competing and I want more. I have started to believe in myself and was proud to show my children, who have never seen me without disability, that with self-belief you
can accomplish anything. I have dreamt of representing my country at the highest level, something I thought would never be a part of my life again.

So please help us raise the final £2K needed to give Kelly the best wheelchair and help her in her journey to the Invictus Games!
