Story
Since 2010, Halloween on the Hill has grown into Des Moines’ favorite Halloween tradition — a night when our historic neighborhood transforms into a glowing, ghostly wonderland. Homes come alive with spooky scenes, live performances, and creative community spirit, all while supporting local nonprofits.
Hunger affects every part of the Des Moines metro. Each year, the DMARC Food Pantry Network assists more than 75,000 individuals, with approximately 1,100 people turning to the network for food assistance each day. Through 13 partner food pantries, multiple Mobile Food Pantry sites, and a home delivery service, DMARC works to ensure our neighbors have access to nutritious food when they need it.
As the need for food assistance continues to grow, the DMARC Food Pantry Network continues to rise to the occasion. Every day, we strive to provide a dignified pantry experience where people can count on a consistent selection of food and access to healthy options.
This year on Friday, October 30th, from 6:30–8:30 PM at the Sherman Hill Neighborhood, join us for this free, family-friendly event that attracts thousands of visitors each year. Come in costume, bring your family, and join us for a night of magic, mischief, and meaning.
