At Mixteca, we believe cultural transformation happens when we empower individuals. We believe everyone has the right to thrive, regardless of political and social barriers. And we believe immigrants possess incredible potential that is only realized when we actively address risk factors in our community like poverty, limited educational resources, lack of legal advocacy, and unequal access to culturally appropriate socio-emotional support and mental health counseling.

Mixteca has been supporting the Sunset Park community since the early days of the AIDS crisis 20 years ago. We work to enrich, equip, and empower the Latinx immigrant community in Brooklyn and beyond by offering:

Mental Health Services: Serving and teaching others about appropriate communication and stress management techniques, especially in families that have experienced domestic gender-based violence

Physical Health Services: Providing culturally informed services that promote public health through educational programs and preventative efforts
