Story
As an organization with more than a century of experience in caring for our community, the Valley of the Sun YMCA responds quickly to these challenges; creatively expanding our programs to meet our community when, where and how we are needed most.
Thanks to the generous support of our donors, we can continue to ensure the health, safety and well-being of every YMCA child and family. We are working to pave the way for a bright future to all of our community no matter their age, race, gender or socioeconomic status.
ADVANCING CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT
Every dollar invested in social/emotional learning (SEL) improves lifetime outcomes for youth, and prepares young people for success in a complex world. Y programs are committed to executing experiences rich in SEL for this reason; youth do better when they have supportive adults nurturing their potential. As academic demands evolve within our education system, the Y will continue to prioritize education, SEL and safety for the children in our care. Help the Y provide these opportunities for every child in our community regardless of their inability to pay.
In 2022, Camp Sky-Y will: Provide 150 under-served youth an unforgettable camp experience at Camp Sky-Y though scholarships
DEVELOPING COMMUNITY LEADERS
By 2030, the majority of the U.S. population will be young adults between 18 and 35 years of age. As the world grows in complexity and teens become more isolated, providing programs that build a sense of belonging and welcome young people to develop their self-identity is increasingly important. By investing in the YMCAs leadership development programs, you are developing our communitys future leaders. Help the Y provide spaces for our teens who may be struggling with self-esteem and depression, or difficult school or family environments.
In 2022, Camp Sky-Y will: Train 5 youth to be camp leaders for future summers through our Counselor In Training program
STRENGTHENING FAMILIES
Raising a family is challenging today, and for those who have experienced trauma the statistics are working against their success. We support parents in creating stronger families to lower child poverty, reduce social-isolation, increase positive health outcomes, and increase family income. From providing affordable childcare to youth sports to membership, every family is welcome to come together in fellowship and well-being at the Y. Help the Y provide a place for families to spend time together.
In 2022, Camp Sky-Y will: Provide 10 families with a scholarship for a camp experience
OUR MISSION
The Valley of the Sun YMCAs mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
OUR CAUSE
At the Y, strengthening community is our cause. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
