Keven & Andrea’s Story: Where Hope Takes Root

Thanks to supporters like you, children like Keven have a safe, welcoming place to go after school — a place where they can learn, grow, and dream. For Keven, that place is the Study Stars after school program at his CHW community.
“I like coming here because I get to learn new things,” he says. “We do our homework, and if we finish early, we get to make slime or draw. I’ve even gotten better at math!”
Keven’s mom, Andrea, has seen an incredible difference in her son since joining the program.
“Before, he would get distracted in class,” she said. “Now his behavior and grades have improved so much. He’s more confident, and we’re so proud of him.”
For Andrea and her husband, both hardworking parents of five, Study Stars means more than academic help — it’s a lifeline. With language barriers and busy work schedules, the program gives their children the support they need to succeed.
“It’s not just about homework,” Andrea shared. “CHW gives us food support, a safe place for our kids, and people who care about our family. We feel like we belong.”
