The campaign has now expired but it's not too late to support this charity.
Visit the charity's profileFounded in 1906, Neighborhood House is one of the oldest human services agencies in the King County region. In addition to the benefits of the services we have provided for over 100 years, our goal is to remove barriers and change oppressive systems that are causing poverty.
Give today to support a healthy, diverse, welcoming community, free of poverty and racism, where all people thrive.
One of those stories, Ephraim, a rideshare driver saw a huge drop in income when COVID hit. Fortunately, the federal government extended unemployment to gig workers. Unfortunately, the Employment Security Department was not equipped to serve people that didn't speak English or have computer literacy.
We advocated with them to:
Add a language line,
Hire bilingual staff, and
Revamp their website.
After we helped Ephraim secure unemployment, we paid for Ephraim's Commercial Driver's license. He now makes $55/hour driving a truck.
