BLIND ATHLETE TEAMS GO FOR THE GOLD AT THE COLUMBIA RIVER TRIATHLON
Studies show that individuals who are blind and visually encounter barriers to sports or physical activity due to restricted access, societal stigmas and lack of programs available.
However, Northwest Association for Blind Athletes (NWABA) is changing all of that by providing opportunities for individuals who are blind and visually impaired through sports and physical activity.
For the first-time ever, seven athletes from NWABA will break the stigma by participating in the Columbia River Triathlon!
The participating relay teams cover a wide range of ages, skills and abilities from first-time triathletes to seasoned contenders, and will compete alongside their sighted peers. The Sprint Triathlon consists of a half mile swim, 12-mile cycle and a 5K run.
By using sports and physical activity as a catalyst, individuals who are blind and visually impaired learn to build confidence, increase self-esteem, develop independence, find community, and become successful in all areas of life.
Cheer on our athletes and help them reach the finish line by supporting NWABA. To learn more about NWABA, visit www.NWABA.org.
