Story
Our Lady's Immaculate Heart Catholic Church has long been committed to helping those in need, strengthened by our affiliation with the Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC).
Established in 1976, the DMARC Food Pantry Network is the oldest and largest food pantry system in Iowa. The DMARC Food Pantry Network consists of 14 metro area pantries (including Catholic Charities), multiple mobile food pantries, and a free home delivery program for those unable to travel to a pantry site.
In the past couple years, food insecurity has increased to unprecedented levels, with pantries struggling to keep their shelves stocked. This past calendar year, DMARC assisted 75,519 unique individuals. Over one-third of this number were children, age 17 or younger. Thanks to you and the gifts of a generous community, we are proud that the DMARC Food Pantry Network continues to serve as a safety net for those who struggle with food insecurity. Your support provides more than food; it offers comfort, stability, and hope for individuals facing uncertainty.
