Supportive Cancer Care: A Lifeline When Life Changes Overnight
When someone hears the words “you have cancer,” everything shifts. Daily routines, emotional stability, and family life can change in an instant. While the medical system treats the disease, the rest of the journey can feel overwhelming and isolating.
This is where supportive cancer care becomes essential.
Your support provides programs that fill the gaps the medical system cannot: connection, calm, movement, nutrition, emotional support, and community. These are not “extras.” For many, they are lifelines that help people get through their hardest days.
Why Supportive Cancer Care Matters
Cancer affects far more than the body. It impacts mental health, relationships, identity, and the ability to cope day‑to‑day. Families and caregivers often carry invisible burdens of fear and exhaustion.
Thousands of people in our region face these challenges each year, and the need for accessible, community‑based support continues to grow.
At The Ottawa Cancer Foundation, we work closely with hospitals, healthcare professionals, and more than 70 community partners to co‑design programs that respond to real needs in real time.
Walk With Us. Make a Difference.
Whether you’re running, walking, fundraising, or cheering from the sidelines, your involvement fuels programs that change lives every day.
Together, we can build a community where every person facing cancer — and every person supporting them — feels seen, supported, and strengthened.
Join us. Support The Ottawa Cancer Foundation. Help ensure no one faces cancer alone.
