Story
As we continue to work together and grow the urban forest throughout Pittsburgh, we cannot overlook one critical element -- maintaining our current tree canopy. These Gentle Giants need our help -- and we need them.
We are currently losing approximately 86 trees per day. These incredible tree species are beset by pests like the Spotted Lanternfly and Emerald Ash Borer, diseases like Oak Wilt and Maple Tar Spot, devastating storms that have broken limbs leaving them vulnerable to more damage -- further consuming Pittsburgh's tree canopy.
With your support, the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy continues to plant trees to help offset natural tree loss due to age. We are working to protect our Gentle Giants. Learn about our involvement with the Ash Tree Conservation Project to inoculate Ash trees to battle Emerald Ash Borer, and our research efforts of yellowwood saplings and their resistance to weather changes. These efforts are not possible without the continued investment of our community.
By donating and/or fundraising for the Gentle Giants of the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy, your support goes towards proper tree care which is essential for healthy trees to reach their full potential. Trees are as much of an asset to us as our streets, sewers, bridges, and public buildings.
