I love my Pittsburgh Gentle Giants! These trees are my sanctuary during these challenging times. When I take a walk and look at these beautiful trees, my heart is filled with joy, hope, and amazement. They have been here for so long and have withstood so many hardships just like we have. I know our Gentle Giants do so much for us like preventing erosion, absorbing carbon from the air, providing shade, and are home for many animals. And I also know that they need our help! We are losing dozens of trees per day due to intense storms, invasive pests, and diseases. I learned devastating insects like the Spotted Lanternfly and fungal diseases such as oak wilt threaten more than 60% of our native tree population. We need to do something now!
