Story
This October, Josiah Dueck, Director of Operations at International Needs Canada, is running the Niagara Falls International Marathon for a reason: to support the children at Real Hope in Nairobi, Kenya. His goal is $1,100, enough to help cover the care of one child for six months.

Real Hope runs a safe house and drop-in centre in Kawangware Slum, where children who have come from the streets or unsafe home environments find consistent care, meals, education support, and a stable place to belong. The need is ongoing, and the team works hard to respond to every child referred to them.

That’s where the idea for Rally for Real Hope began: one person, one challenge, one decision to turn effort into impact.
Josiah is running 42 kilometres, 32 more than he has ever run before. But what could your challenge be?
Now until the end of 2026, we’re inviting others to take on a challenge of their own as part of a larger effort to Rally for Real Hope. It might be something you’ve been training toward, something you’ve always wanted to try, or something that pushes you. A run, a walk, a ride, a climb. Big or small, the challenge isn’t the point. The impact is.
If you're looking for a place to start, you're also welcome to join Josiah at the Niagara Falls International Marathon on October 25th.
If you'd like to start your own fundraiser and want support getting the word out, we're here to help. We can provide photos, videos, social media content, and printed flyers to make it easier to share your efforts with your community. Reach out to us at communications@internationalneeds.ca and we'll get you set up.
