Every year, New Hampshire's civil legal system weighs thousands of disputes involving the basic rights and basic needs of people with low income. Despite the clear need for attorneys to assist clients in these matters, there is less than one legal aid attorney for every 10,000 low-income residents in New Hampshire.

New Hampshire Legal Assistance and 603 Legal Aid have to turn away too many applications for services not because the cases aren't important or that the cases can't be won, but because there is simply not enough time and resources to serve everyone.
