Her Justice stands with women living in poverty in New York City by recruiting and mentoring volunteer lawyers to provide free legal help to address individual and systemic legal barriers.
Through our 'pro bono first' model, our in-house staff attorneys train and mentor thousands of pro bono attorneys to take on cases in family, matrimonial and immigration law.
In 2020, our clients, 90% of whom are women of color and 75% of whom are survivors of domestic violence, are now also reeling from the disproportionate impact that the COVID-19 pandemic, a devastated economy, and amplified ethnic and racial divisions have had on them and their families.

We recognize economic empowerment as a key factor in achieving gender equality, racial justice, and safety for survivors of intimate partner violence.
For us, advancing economic justice means providing critical free legal services to women living in poverty who are seeking basic freedoms - personal autonomy, financial independence, and the chance to live lives free from abuse.

It also means disrupting the civil justice system by inserting thousands of well-trained and resourced, private sector, pro bono attorneys into it every year.
As lawyers and leaders in New York City, we are being called to action.
With your help, we can work to close the gap in access to justice, creating a more equitable society for all.
