#TeamSIA are back for the London Marathon 2021! After the disappointment of the cancellation of so many events in 2020 we are excited to have a fantastic London Marathon team ready and raring to raring to go for the this years race.

For this year's race we have a mix of fundraisers from the 2020 team and some brilliant new additions for 2021 taking to the streets of London on 3rd October to raise vital funds and awareness for SIA. Visit our website to read more about this year's team.

The coronavirus pandemic, and the cancelation of events like the London Marathon means that we have lost £1million since the start of the pandemic. This is at the same time as needing to quickly adapt how we support SCI people, and seeing a significant rise in demand for our services and support. We have adapted our services to:

* Offer virtual support from our SCI Nurses, Counselling Service and Support Network Officers

* Provide information about shielding and the vaccination rollout to our members, many of whom have been able to be prioritised for vaccination as a result

* In January 2021 calls to our Support Line almost tripled compared to January 2020, mainly for advice about the vaccine and Emergency Care Plans. Calls to the Support Line have been consistently higher than normal since the start of the pandemic.
