The mission of the Central Texas Food Bank is to nourish hungry people and lead the community in the fight against hunger. We provide food through a network of about 300 Partner Agencies and mobile food pantries across 21 counties, an area about twice the size of Massachusetts.

Story

Step Challenge has been EXTENDED due to the winter weather crisis. The challenge now runs through February 28th.

Time to get active for the fight against hunger!

Step, roll, ride or run 21 miles in 21 days to raise funds for the Central Texas Food Bank. Ask your friends, family, colleagues, maybe even strangers, to make a $21 donation to show their support for your efforts in the '21 Step Challenge presented by St. David's HeathCare.

Why 21? The Food Bank serves 21 counties and last year distributed nearly 54 million meals to our neighbors in need across Central Texas. The COVID-19 pandemic has drastically increased the need for our services, with thousands of families each month turning to the Food Bank for the first time in their lives.

First, register and create your page.

Click the button on this page that says 'Start Fundraising.' Create an account with our fundraising platform JustGiving if you don't already have one, and from there follow the instructions to set up your page.

Next, start stepping and fundraising.

Start your 21 mile journey, and spread the word that you're participating in this challenge. You can email or post to Facebook or Twitter directly from your page. Contact friends, family, colleagues, you can even tell strangers that you're fighting hunger through the Food Bank's step challenge. Share the link to your page and ask them if they will show their support by donating.

Then, keep up the momentum.

Throughout the step challenge from February 1 to February 28, find ways to stay motivated and reach your goals. Start a friendly competition with a colleague or family member. Share frequent updates sweaty selfies, maps and miles logged so your supporters can stay updated and celebrate your progress. The Food Bank will also send you tips and tricks twice a week to help set you up for success. And to up the challenge, we have some great prizes. Anyone who raises $150 or more will be entered to win.

With each workout you log, you can celebrate knowing that every $1 you raise provides 4 meals for Central Texans facing hunger.

And thanks to a matching challenge from St. David's HealthCare and a generous board member, February donations to the Step Challenge will be MATCHED up to $4,000!

With any exercise challenge, know your limits and don't overdo it. Keep yourself hydrated and don't forget to reward yourself for your efforts.
