We are the Okanagan Chapter of Engineers in Action, a group of UBCO students who believe we can make a difference in communities that need it. We are working with Engineers in Action (EIA) to make that happen.
EIA is a charitable organization that works with underserved communities and global partners to execute sustainable engineering projects that build local capacity and improve access to essential resources. Our university chapter is an important part of that mission, but we need your help to complete it!
We are fundraising to build a pedestrian footbridge in Bolivia to connect an isolated community to essential resources. Together, we can make schools, hospitals and clinics, markets, and clean water more accessible for the people living in the community of Chunchuli Alto. This project would directly support over one thousand people, including thirty five children, who are not able to easily cross the river for over 150 days of the year. These people are mostly farmers and ranchers whose livelihoods rely on selling their goods at the market.
You can help a child get to school, a pregnant mother make it to the health clinic in time, a hardworking parent sell their crops at the market, and bring clean water to a family in need. To get a feel for the work you would support by donating, check out the highlight video below from the 2024 project that our partner student chapters built.
Every donation helps. Please, give what you can and invite your friends to help us help the people who need it most.
