Story
The WEDC Foundation was created to give a hand up to women scholars in North Alabama, striving to achieve their goals and dreams through higher education. Our scholars are required to work while going through school. Many are working jobs in retail, food service, or interning at a local business. During this pandemic, their schooling and bills continue, but their work cannot.
The WEDC Foundation Scholar Emergency Fund was created to help support our Scholars during this unprecedented time and any emergency that could arise in the future. All of our donations so far have been offline. Please help us reach the last portion of our goal. We appreciate your generosity and willingness to donate during this time of need, as we are all affected in one way or another!
An example of the needs from our Scholars:
I've had to increase our Internet level to provide access for my kids' schooling and we are using more utilities. I've used my savings to cover the bills and I'm not able to provide food for my kids and the car repairs needed to get to work.
I was working full time to pay my tuition, rent, and to cover expenses like buying a new left tire because of a pot hole. I've had to use up my savings and can no longer work due to Covid-19. I can't express the gratitude to the WEDC Foundation has shown towards us young striving ladies. Thank you so much for the support.
