About us
Sandwell Citizens Advocacy has been dedicated to supporting and offering a voice on behalf of vulnerable people in the borough of Sandwell, West Midlands, for the past 3 decades. Our work ensures that the needs, rights and wishes of vulnerable individuals are taken into account in the planning and delivery of local services. Expert staff and trained volunteers offer support and help to develop and maintain a stronger, more resilient local community.
We support thousands of the most vulnerable people in Sandwell, improving the quality of life of individuals and families, increasing individual independence, resilience, confidence and the development of a cohesive community.
For the past 30 years, our work has helped to ensure that the needs, rights and wishes of vulnerable individuals are considered at the forefront of the planning and delivery of local services. Our vital work is based on the principle that advocacy is not about acting in what is perceived to be the person’s best interest but is about standing with a person to ensure they are able to say and try to obtain what they truly want and need.
We provide independent advocacy and support throughout our local community, promoting rights, individual voices, and empowerment. We refer to those we support as ‘advocacy partners’ as we feel that our relationship is an equal partnership. Our qualified advocacy practitioners recruit and train local people to act as volunteer advocates in support of our partners.
